Preconception and fertility tips

natural preconception and fertility tips

Every week I see people that are surprised to discover just how much more they can be doing to improve their fertility and plan for a baby.

If you are thinking of having a baby it is important to prepare for a safe pregnancy and healthy baby. Preconception care involves optimising the health of both the “parents to be,” by addressing health issues prior to conception. This ensures that you are in the best state of health, thereby positively influencing your child’s health and quality of life for years to come.

It takes around four months to produce sperm and approximately 3 1/2 months to produce a mature egg. Preconception planning will take this into account so your cells are developing at optimum levels.

How a naturopath can help

You will receive guidance on dietary, lifestyle and supplement recommendations to promote reproductive health thereby increasing your chances of conceiving naturally and maintaining health throughout the pregnancy and beyond.

The quality of the egg and sperm today is the reflection of everything that was happening in your life and immediate environment over the previous 4 months. Your complete health picture during that time – including nutrition, stress levels, blood oxygenation, hormone levels, emotions and other factors – affect the quality of your fertility in the current month.

For this reason, and irrespective of your age or pre-existing circumstances, in order to give you and your partner’s bodies the best ability to heal and produce the results you so lovingly desire, we support and encourage you to follow the treatment program guidelines and recommendations as closely as possible.

Infertility and natural therapies

Is described as when you haven’t fallen pregnant after a period of 12 months trying to conceive. But before you decide to go to the nearest IVF clinic, try natural therapies first. There are range of reasons for infertility, which can be attributed to both the male and female.

Many people use complementary or alternative therapies to improve their overall physical and emotional health. This could include herbal medicines, vitamin and mineral supplements, homoeopathy and nutritional diet support. It is important to learn how to track your cycle as well.
